No fresh positive tests for Covid-19 recorded in NHS Highland area for third day in a row; news comes as Scotland registered just seven new coronavirus diagnoses in the past 24 hours

THREE days have now passed since NHS Highland reported its most recent positive test for Covid-19.

NHS Highland's overall total of confirmed coronavirus diagnoses remained static on 376 when the Scottish Government daily update was published at 2pm.

The news comes as the Scottish Government confirmed that there have bee no fresh Covid-19 fatalities in the Highlands for the past two weeks.

The death toll for the whole NHS Highland area since the start of the pandemic remained at 114, while the number of deaths in the smaller Highland Council area stayed at 50.

Meanwhile, there were just seven new positive tests for the coronavirus across the whole of Scotland in the past 24 hours. One further death was reported in the past day, to take the total death toll among those who tested positive to 2490.

In the north of Scotland, health boards in Orkney, Shetland, Eileanan Siar and Tayside reported no fresh Covid-19 diagnoses in the past day.

However, NHS Grampian added one further case, to take its overall total to 1427. The number of people who tested positive who were receiving hospital treatment in Grampian last night was unchanged at 34.

Across Scotland, the number of hospitalised cases fell from 376 to 358 in the past day, three of whom were in intensive care
