Eleven fresh Covid-19 coronavirus cases recorded across NHS Highland area

ELEVEN new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded across the NHS Highland health board area.
The region’s cumulative number of infections rose from 4876 to 4887 when the latest daily update was published on Wednesday.
Ten people were receiving treatment for the virus in NHS Highland hospitals last night. This was unchanged from yesterday.
Six-hundred-and-twenty-five new cases of Covid-19 were detected across the whole of Scotland in the past 24 hours – or three per cent of tests during that window.
There were 422 people in hospital with the virus last night – down 18 from the previous update.
And there were four fewer people in intensive care, which stood at 38 last night.
Sadly, a further 12 deaths were also recorded in the past 24 hours.
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the north of Scotland, there were no new cases overnight in either NHS Shetland or NHS Orkney, but NHS Eileanan Siar registered one fresh infection – taking its overall tally to 291.
Twenty-two new cases were confirmed in NHS Grampian, for a cumulative total of 13,896.
And NHS Tayside’s tally rose by 43, to 13,687.
There have been 211,230 confirmed cases of Covid-19 across Scotland since the pandemic began.
More than 38,000 people received their first Covid vaccination jag yesterday – taking the total to 1,981,818.
And almost 11,000 people received their second injection over the same period. For a running total of 181,879.
