NHS Highland has recorded 185 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

The region’s cumulative number of known infections rose from 10,927 to 11,112 when the latest figures for the health board area were released on Tuesday.

Fourteen people were being treated for the virus at NHS Highland hospital sites last night, which was down one from Monday’s update.

Some 364 people were receiving treatment for the virus in Scottish hospitals last night – a rise of eight.

Of these, 43 were in intensive care, which was an increase of two.

And sadly 10 more deaths have been reported among people who tested positive in the previous 28 days.

Meanwhile, elsewhere in the north of Scotland, NHS Eileanan Siar and NHS Shetland both recorded six new cases each, to take their running totals to 514 and 432 respectively. One new infection was detected across NHS Orkney.

There were 179 new positive tests across the NHS Grampian area, for a running total of 25,403.

And there were 197 fresh infections in NHS Tayside – taking its cumulative tally to 28,934.

There have now been 390,908 positive tests across the whole of Scotland since the pandemic began.

Almost 4.09 million people in Scotland have now had their first vaccination jag, while nearly 3.59 million have had their second.
