NHS Highland area reports 12 new positive cases of Covid

The NHS Highland area has seen another rise in coronavirus cases, with 12 new positive tests returned in the latest 24-hour period.

It brings the area's tally to 1422 since records began at the beginning of the pandemic.

There were no new cases across the Western Isles, Orkney and Shetland, while NHS Grampian recorded a further 47 positive cases.

The latest figures released on Sunday by Public Health Scotland showed that 746 new cases of Covid-19 had been registered across the country.

There were 1049 people in hospital yesterday with recently confirmed Covid-19, with 76 in intensive care.

Two new reported deaths were also recorded in Sunday's figures.
