NHS Highland will this week open an Inverness Vaccination Centre which is easily accessible to those living in and around the city.

The centre, which will be based at the business park in Highlander Way, next to the retail park, will be solely used for vaccination and will be open six days a week. The first clinic will be held tomorrow.

Vaccinations will be carried out on the first floor of the building with a waiting area on the ground floor. The building is accessible to all, there is a lift for those unable to manage stairs, and parking is available.

This will replace Smithton Church as the main vaccination hub in the city.

David Park, deputy chief executive of NHS Highland said: “We are incredibly grateful to the team at Smithton Church for their hospitality as we carried out our vaccination programme.

"They have been very helpful to our teams and we would like to thank them for all their support over the past few months.

“The new centre will run six days a week and allow us to vaccinate a large number of people each day. Clinics will be available on the national online portal which you can book into via NHS Inform.

“We have a large number of people to vaccinate in a short timescale. This new venue will help us in meeting this challenge.”

The national portal allows those over 50 and health and social care staff to book in for their Covid Booster and/or flu vaccination, over 40s to book their Covid Booster, and 16 to 17year olds to book in for their second dose. You can access the portal here.

A list of Highland clinics is available on the NHS Highland website, this includes detail on how people can access these clinics. Online portal clinics will have live links once the clinics are available for booking.

There are currently clinics available to book on the portal in: Aviemore, Connel, Dunoon, Fort William, Fortrose, Inverness, Kames, Strachur and Tain.

Further clinics will be added in additional locations.

NHS Highland is aware of recent JCVI advice on boosters for people under 40 and is making plans to deliver this while awaiting instruction from the Scottish Government.
