A NEW head teacher is set to take up his job at an Easter Ross secondary next week.

Alness Academy has announced that Craig Paterson will take up the post from Monday, January 25.

Acting head teacher Donald MacRae will take up the post of depute head teacher (pupil support) on the same day.

Mrs D Murray, who was serving as an acting deputy head teacher, will return to her substantive post as faculty head (maths & business).

Mrs F Philips, who was the acting faculty head for maths & business, will return to her substantive post as a maths teacher.

Acting head Donald MacRae said: "I want to publicly acknowledge the valued support Mrs Murray and Mrs Philips have given the school over the past few months. A key strength in any successful team is the willingness of team members to step up and lead at any level. Thank you for your powerful contribution towards sustaining our success.

"Finally, on behalf of the whole school community, we warmly welcome Mr Paterson to his school."
