A new body of work titled ‘The Point Series’ will be exhibited at a solo show.

The series has developed over the last five years from Inverness-born artist James Lumsden’s time spent between his studios in Edinburgh and in Point, on the Isle of Lewis.

The exhibuton was first proposed in 2019, before Covid, lockdowns and two gallery closures intervened to postpone it several times.

Victoria Caine, An Talla Solais’s curator, said: "We felt hugely connected to this body of work from the outset with James’s physical journeys through Ullapool to get to Lewis by ferry.

"I look at the series now though and it feels intrinsically linked to thoughts of timelessness; of fluidity of time and marking the passing of time, which feel so relevant right now.

"These pieces seem to mean so much more two years on.’

‘The Point Series’ will be exhibited from July 3 to August 8 2021 at An Talla Solais Gallery, open Tuesday to Sunday from 10am-5pm with a 30 minute closure at 1.30pm.
