Family law expert Sarah Lilley has become the only tripled-accredited lawyer in the Highlands.

Mrs Liley, who works out of the Dingwall office of Brodies LLP, has been recognised as an accredited specialist in family law mediation.

Already accredited in family law and child law, Mrs Lilley is now the only triple-accredited solicitor in Scotland north of Aberdeen. She is also one of only two accredited family law mediators in the Highlands.

Mrs Lilley, a senior associate at Brodies LLP, said: "This accreditation means that Brodies will offer mediation in the Highlands for the first time. This offers a different solution for couples separating or divorcing, one that can be less time-consuming and costly to the client, and less stressful for all involved.

"Achieving the status of accredited specialist shows our clients that we have some of the most in-depth knowledge of family law in Scotland and demonstrates our commitment to resolving any disputes without going to court as often as possible. It's a recognition of significant hard work and it is extremely satisfying to reach this milestone."

Mrs Lilley's award is one of five new accreditations from The Law Society of Scotland, further boosting the capabilities of the already top ranked practice.

Rachael Noble has also become an accredited specialist in family law mediation and together with fellow Aberdeen-based lawyer Garry Sturrock, has been accredited as a family law specialist. Their colleague Donna McKay is also now accredited as a child law specialist.

The accreditations by The Law Society Scotland, are granted once a lawyer meets strict criteria in terms of their ability to deal with complex cases.

Shaun George, head of Brodies' family practice, commented: "I am delighted to see four family law colleagues successfully achieve these accreditations. It is a testament to their dedication to their clients, and is further demonstration that we have some of the best family law experts in Scotland at Brodies.

"We now have 21 accreditations across the team, including seven family law mediators, 10 family law specialists, four child law specialists, a solicitor advocate and also a family law arbitrator. Having such a large team of accredited specialists ensures clients can trust they are getting the best advice, as hallmarked by the Law Society of Scotland."
