AN Easter Ross man who was about to be searched by police failed to tell the officers that he had an uncapped needle in one of his pockets.

Jonathan Wylie (41) of Gordon Place, Fearn, Easter Ross, admitted a charge of culpable and reckless conduct.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard a constable suffered a scratched hand when he put it in one of Wylie’s trouser pockets.

Wylie admitted he culpably and recklessly failed to disclose to police he was in possession of the needle despite being repeatedly asked if he had anything sharp in his possession that could cause harm to to himself or the officers, and one suffered the scraped hand that put him at risk of infection or injury.

Fiscal depute Susan Love said the officers had been called by Wylie because of a disturbance within his home, and later he was told he was going to be searched and the incident occurred.

Sheriff Gary Aitken called for background reports on Wylie and sentence was deferred until October 29 this year.
