A SPANIARD is said to be in a "life-threatening" condition after falling from the pier into the water at Ullapool harbour.

The 52-year-old man was recovered from the water by his crew, also from Spain, and emergency services were alerted to the incident at about 1.30am on Friday. (February 10).

The man suffered a head injury and was taken by the Stornoway coastguard helicopter to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness where his condition is described as life threatening.

There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances.
