A87 Skye to Great Glen trunk road closed both ways between Kyle of Lochalsh and Balmacara after ‘three-vehicle collision’, warns Traffic Scotland; Highland motorists advised to use alternate routes
A major Highland trunk road has been closed in both directions following a multi-vehicle crash.
Traffic Scotland has confirmed that the A87 Great Glen to Skye road is shut near Balmacara following a three-vehicle collision.
Confirming the crash, which occurred at around 12.45pm, a spokesperson said: “The A87 is closed in both directions between Balmacara and Kyle of Lochalsh due to a road traffic incident.
“Drivers should use an alternate route where possible and should expect longer than usual journey times.”
They confirmed that the incident was a “three-vehicle collision” and advised anyone in the area to use caution on the approach.

There was no immediate word on the types of vehicles involved, or if anyone has been injured.
Emergency services have been approached for information.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “The A87 is closed near Balmacara following a three-vehicle crash reported to police around 12.45pm on Thursday.
“Emergency services are in attendance and road users are advised to avoid the area.”
