Muir of Ord sets the scene for nine-day gala promising something for everyone
A ROSS-SHIRE village has set the stage for an action-packed nine-day gala which promises a host of old favourites for every age group and a brand new event making its debut.
The fun in Muir of Ord begins on Saturday (July 15) with a fete day which runs from noon to 4pm and opens with the arrival of the Royal Party and crowning of Gala Queen Kara Godwin at the Sports Bowl. She and Prince Leo McQuade and Princess Zara MacKay will be piped to the venue by Sutherland Pipe Band.
A children's fancy dress will then be held in memory of the late Amy Tuach.

And being introduced for the first time is The Muir It's a Knockout competition where local teams of four will battle it out for the Ord Trophy.
The main arena will include a falconry display, Highland dancers, trapeze, radio car demonstration and a police and dog handler display.
Also promised is a variety of craft stalls, face painting, refreshments and baking donated by Bad Girl Bakery. Northern Lights are due to perform in the square in the evening from 7.30pm until 9.30pm.
Sunday (July 16) features an 18-hole golf open day hosted by Muir of Ord Golf Club and on Monday a 5K colour fun run takes cenyre stage at the Sports Bowl at 7pm.
On Tuesday (July 18) a Muir Rovers fun football competition kicks of the day from 10am with a performance by psychic Pamela Duff at 7.30pm, with tickets available in advance from The Hub, The Filly and the Gala fete day.
There's a cinema day, graffiti for teens and Teuchters' Comedy Club session on Wednesday with a change of pace on Thursday (July 20) with a tea dance at the village hall from 2pm to 4pm, a kids' disco at the marquee in the Sports Bowl from 6.30pm and a bowls for fun session at Muir Bowling Green from 7pm to 10pm.
Friday (July 21) brings a teddy bears picnic at Muir Bowling Pavilion from 11am and a 'Muir-o-Vision' night at the gala marquee from 7.30pm. That features Eurovision favourites performed by local talent.
The big gala float parade takes place on Saturday, July 22 at 7pm followed by a marquee dance from 8pm to midnight featuring Dancing with Sharks.
There's a Sunday finale with a pub quiz in the golf club and grand raffle prize draw from 3.30pm.
