MOUNTAIN rescuers were back in the hills at the weekend – as the search for a man missing for more than two months continued.

West Yorkshire man Martin Rhodes has been missing in the area since May 1.

Despite repeated searches no trace of him has yet been found.

And on Sunday, 26 members of Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team, accompanied by a SARDA search dog, returned to Fisherfield Forest in Wester Ross and carried out further searches for Mr Rhodes.

Search activity focused on the vicinity of Lochan Fada, Mullach Coire Mhic Fhearchair and Meall Garbh.

“Sadly, no new evidence of Martin’s whereabouts was discovered and he remains untraced at this time,” said a spokesman for the mountain rescue team.

Mr Rhodes (46), from Halifax, was last seen leaving the Kinlochewe Hotel at around 8.30am on Wednesday, May 1.

He had been on a walking holiday, but the alarm was raised after he failed to return from his trip.

It is thought he had been visiting the area around the Fisherfield Munros, which is one of the most remote parts of the British Isles.

He is described as 5’4” tall, of slim build with short brown hair.
