A motorcyclist has been left in critical condition after a crash near Beauly yesterday morning, with a 47-year-old car driver arrested after the incident.

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious collision at around 11am on the A862 at the junction with the A833 towards Kiltarlity, which involved a black Mazda CX5 car and two Yamaha MT07 motorcycles.

They confirmed that a 67-year-old male motorcyclist was taken to Raigmore Hospital, where medical staff describe his condition as critical.

The driver of the car and the other motorcyclist were uninjured.

The 47-year-old male driver of the car was arrested in connection with road traffic offences and enquiries are ongoing.

The road was closed while investigations were ongoing and re-opened about 7pm.

Sergeant Calum MacAulay of Road Policing North said: “Our inquiries are continuing to understand the full circumstances of what happened. I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who may have dash-cam footage to contact us as soon as possible.

“Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1290 of Saturday, 17 May, 2025.”
