Aviemore concert will see Manran boosting Mikeysline
To capture the spirit, the organisers of the special charity event at Macdonald Aviemore Resort’s beautiful Osprey Arena have launched a dedicated family ticket to bring the generations together.
The offer at £50 includes entry for two adults and two children aged 12 to 17 years old, for which they will see and hear the best traditional Scots - with a twist here and there - while supporting one of the Highlands’ most vital causes in Mikeysline, which does so much to help those battling with mental issues.
The Strathy is told by the organisers that it’s all looking good for Saturday: “Preparations are progressing well and it’s shaping up to be a fantastic evening.”
That was echoed today by Manran man Garry Innes - after he’d got some breath back in a wee pause during a pretty hectic week, which among other things has seen the launch of the new single, “Standing Still”.
Not that the band has been doing much of that!
“We’re just back from France where we did a couple of really enjoyable theatre nights. Strasbourg was fantastic and we’d have loved to stay on a while, but we have to be back for the BBC on Wednesday, filming with Dougie MacLean.
“Then on Friday we’ll be opening the Mod at Oban before coming on up to Badenoch and Strathspey for the Osprey gig.
“We’re all looking forward to that and I can exclusively reveal to the Strathy that we’ll be opening the set with a good upbeat number ‘Ailean’, just to get things moving.”
Garry - who’s joined in the band by Ewen Henderson, Ryan Murphy, Mark Scobbie, Kim Carnie, Aidan Moodie and Marcus Cordoc - is thrilled to be performing on behalf of Mikeysline.
“It does a brilliant job in the Highlands and we have worked with other organisations like it in other areas of Scotland and it’s an issue very close to all our hearts.
“We’d love to help boost their funds to help them do the incredibly important job that they do.”
Manran’s internationally renowned vibrant blend of traditional Scottish music with that added contemporary twist is due to set the Osprey Arena alight and the band will be supported by local stars Calum Macphail and Dylan James Tyrnie.
Macphail, a household name in the Highland music scene, will deliver his signature accordion-driven tunes, perfect for getting the crowd moving
Tyrnie will bring his soulful voice and heartfelt songwriting to the stage, to add a special touch to an already electric line-up.
All profits raised from the concert will be donated to Mikeysline to boost its crisis text line, 1-1 support, and its Hives in Inverness, Alness, and Tain.
These safe spaces allow individuals to seek help, speak openly about their feelings, and receive guidance from compassionate professionals.
Since 2015, the life-saver has been a beacon of hope for many, and the proceeds from the gig will enable them to continue their life-changing work, expanding their services and reaching even more people in need.
Not only will attendees enjoy a fantastic evening of live performances, but they will also have the opportunity to travel with ease, thanks to Stagecoach, which is generously donating buses for the event.
