A MAN is expected to appear in court next week in connection with a disturbance at a property in Balintore.

Police Scotland officers were called to a property in Parkland Place around 7.45pm on Thursday.

A small number of neighbouring properties were evacuated as a precaution during the incident and all residents have since been allowed to return to their homes, said a police spokesman.

The man, aged 40, is expected to appear at Tain Sheriff Court on Monday.

Sergeant Calum Reid said: "This incident was contained to within the property and there was no wider risk to the public.

"We appreciate that the police presence will have been disruptive to local residents going about their business and I would thank them for their patience and understanding while the incident was ongoing."
