A man was found in boxer shorts beside a car that was lying at an angle on the side of the road in Culbokie.

David Greig (36) was at the side of the damaged grey Vauxhall Corsa when police arrived at the scene on April 20.

Inverness Sheriff Court heard that Greig was not the driver, and that he was attempting to push other people away from the car on the unclassified road between the B9169 and B9163.

He was aggressive, shouting, swearing and lashing out.

Fiscal depute Martina Eastwood told Sheriff Nigel Cooke: “He had minor cuts to his chest. He was abusive to police and being physically obstructive, refusing to be cuffed. He had to be restrained in the rear cell of the police van.”

Greig, of Baluachrach, Culbokie, pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by repeatedly shouting, swearing and uttering threatening remarks towards police officers.

He also admitted resisting arrest by tensing his body and flailing his arms and legs.

Sheriff Cooke fined him a total of £790.
