POLICE have arrested and charged a man in relation to three housebreakings which occurred in the Muir of Ord, Elgin and Wick areas.

Working alongside officers from Edinburgh Division, a 37-year-old-man was arrested on June 14 and charged, police reported today. He is due to appear at Inverness Sheriff Court at a later date.

The alleged incidents date back to February 11-18.

Detective Sergeant Scott McKay, of the CID, said: "I would like to take the opportunity to thank the public for their assistance with this enquiry and in responding to our appeal we made on February 14.

"I want to remind those involved in these types of crimes that they are not safe regardless of where they choose to hide and every effort will be made to trace and arrest them with the co-operation of other divisions across Scotland.

"I would encourage anyone with information regarding those involved in theft to contact Police Scotland on 101 or, alternatively, you can report information anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
