Major search for missing Dingwall hill runner

A MAJOR search is under way in Wester Ross for a missing Dingwall hill runner.

Alex Brett is believed to have headed to the Torridon area of Wester Ross on Sunday to run a route covering Beinn Eighe, Beinn Dearg, Beinn Alligin and Liathach.

Mr Brett (65), who is an experienced hill runner, was reported missing yesterday (Thursday).

He is thought to be wearing trainers and carrying either a small rucksack or bum bag.

Police Scotland are co-ordinating the search which involves Dundonnell Mountain Rescue Team, Torridon Mountain Rescue Team, RAF Mountain Rescue Team, Search and Rescue Dog Association Scotland and HM Coastguard helicopter. The Police Scotland dog unit will also be in attendance.

If anyone has seen Mr Brett, or has information about his whereabouts, they are urged to contact police on 101 with information.

Police would also be keen to speak to members of the public who may have been out walking recently in the Beinn Eighe, Beinn Dearg, Beinn Alligin and Liathach areas.
