POTIONS were concocted, butterbeer quaffed and spells cast at two magical sessions on the Black Isle last week.

Libraries in Fortrose and Cromarty were fully booked for the Harry Potter nights, now an eagerly anticipated part of the calendar for many .

In Fortrose 30 attendees placed their names in the Goblet of Fire as they arrived and enjoyed a herbology session led by Countryside Ranger, Marcia Rae, before they made and adopted their own Bowtruckles. They listened to an excerpt of The Goblet of Fire before trying some Gillyweed.

Ten people checked in at Cromarty library and listened to an excerpt from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. The Carnegie Library, a listed building, lent itself well to the Hogwarts’ vibe.

Both events were free of charge and feedback, according to library staff, has been excellent.
