THREE community groups in Ross-shire have benefited from a share of a lottery funding payout which aims to help bring people together.

Across the country 203 community groups are sharing in £1,494,641 from National Lottery Awards for All.

National Lottery Awards for All Scotland provides small National Lottery grants of between £500 and £10,000 to arts, sports and community groups.

Balintore and District Residents Group received £5000 to upgrade Balintore Pavilion's kitchen, improving facilities for all groups using the space.

Gairloch Area Development Ltd got £4494. That will fund the initial stages of a planning application to replace a derelict toilet building with a new block which includes waste disposal facilities and rapid charging points for electric vehicles.

Milnafua Community Group £6900 for improvements to community hall and continue running activities for the most vulnerable and isolated in the area.

A National Lottery Awards for All spokesperson said, “This is National Lottery money in action, reaching into communities across Scotland, making a real difference to the people who live there. The 203 groups receiving funding today showcase the great work that community groups up and down the country are doing by creating safe environments where people can come together to take part in a range of activities and make new friends.”

National Lottery Awards for All Scotland is now more straightforward to apply to and faster to get funding from, the organisation claims. Applications are received on a rolling basis and can be received at any time.
