A ROSS-SHIRE secondary school has issued an assurance over its water supply during the first week back after the coronavirus lockdown.

Plockton High School used its social media channels to issue the statement. It said: "You may have picked up news items about the lack of drinking water in schools in some areas of Scotland.

"I would like to reassure all parents and pupils that, as a consequence of the lockdown, the water system at Plockton High School has been cleaned and disinfected following guidance from the Health and Safety Executive and the Legionella Control Association (LCA).

"Our drinking water is safe and pupils can fill water bottles from our water bottle refilling station next to the dining room."

Tain Royal Academy meanwhile is reminding pupils to take their own water bottles to school as there are no water fountains at present.

It stressed the importance of keeping hydrated.
