Highland Hospice is preparing for a huge fundraising event, The Kessock Bridge Zipline, set to run from Friday/Saturday, September 2-4.

Marking both the charity’s 35th anniversary and the 40th anniversary of the Kessock Bridge, participants will zipline 1500ft from the iconic bridge, landing in the picturesque village of North Kessock.

Over 400 people of all ages, from 12 to over 70 have signed up to participate in the daring challenge.

Abseil challenge is a huge hit for hospice

Fundraiser Emma Nicol explained: “We were absolutely overwhelmed by the response when we announced this event. Saturday and Sunday’s slots were snapped up quickly, and we are so grateful to have been allowed to release further limited spaces on Friday, September 2 between 9.30am and 3pm.

“Anyone participating will be fully guided by UK Bungee Club (UKBC) who have a 100 per cent safety record and will go through all the necessary precautions to ensure everyone remains safe but also has plenty of fun.”

“We are eagerly anticipating this exciting weekend, which couldn’t happen without the support of so many companies. I would like to extend heartfelt thanks to our main sponsors Ord Industrial & Commercial Supplies, McDonald Scaffolding, Alba Traffic Management, BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland, Highland Temporary Works Ltd, Big Bang Promotions, Morris Leslie, RNLI and Swiftwater Solutions LTD.

“Grateful thanks also to Stagecoach buses who will be running a free shuttle service for participants and spectators, and to Harry Gow and Tesco for ensuring all our volunteers will be kept fed and hydrated over the weekend.”

“Whether taking on the challenge as an individual or a corporate team such as BEAR Scotland and Tesco, we are so grateful to everyone who has registered and can’t wait to support you all in action!”

Road users should note that for the duration of the event there will be a 30mph speed limitation put in place on the Northbound carriageway of the bridge.

If you are interested in participating in the Friday Zipline, you can still register. Please note that spaces are extremely limited and participants must be aged 12 and over.
