Letter to the editor:

I am writing this message to make you aware that for many months now, our Kiltearn Primary School in Evanton does not have a lollipop person, since the last lady who was doing this highly important and essential job has retired.

It seems that the Highland Council is ignoring the village and does not provide us, the residents, with the services that we need and are entitled to. We pay our taxes like any other citizens in The Highland Council area, but it seems that they don’t listen to us or even that we don’t acknowledge that we exist at all. This is not the only issue that is impacting life in the village. They building and they are continuing to build more houses, which I think is a good thing as more affordable housing is needed.

However, this has a direct impact on the amount of traffic in the village, and in addition to this, the bushes and the nettles by the pavement are overgrown.

At times, this forces the children to leave the pavement and walk on the road, especially if some other pedestrian is coming the opposite direction. The school car park is dirty and also overgrown, and the school itself is falling apart... just to give you some examples.

The council promised the village residents a few improvements like playing areas etc... but nothing has been done.

The potholes, the extremely dangerous junction onto the A9, the gullies are full or blocked and as soon as it rains a bit the streets become a loch, the public transport service is shocking, dog poo everywhere, weeds and nettles, bushes over-grown on all the sidewalks, the streets haven´t been cleaned for ages, the gritters are not coming to Evanton at all in winter months, public parking is a disaster.

These are just a few examples and I wonder if your newspaper could perhaps report this?
