AN Easter Ross town has shared plans for a virtual Christmas lights switch-on next weekend.

The call has gone out for householders in Tain to get involved from the comfort of their own homes in the event aimed at bringing the community together while observing Covid-19 guidelines.

Locals are being invited to decorate a window of their house and, if they wish, put some decorations in their garden to coincide with the virtual switch-on scheduled for Saturday, December 5 from 5.50pm to 6.10pm.

Tain Gala Association will run the event through its Facebook page and that of Tain Community.

The gala association says there will be a short speech, a Christmas carol sung by Lily Grant and a lights switch-on by this year's gala queen, Leah Mackenzie.

It said: "Light Up Tain Together from the comfort of your own home.We are hoping that people will put up their Christmas trees and decorate a window of their house. It would be lovely to see some Christmas decorations in gardens throughout the town. Together we can light up Tain and stay safe and well from the comfort of our own homes."
