Invergordon Academy has re-opened following repairs to a leaky roof

A ROSS-SHIRE secondary school which closed on Monday because of a leaky canteen roof has re-opened following an extensive repair and clean-up operation.

The 440 pupils were back at their desks at Invergordon Academy today (Tuesday) but had to bring a packed lunch or money for a sandwich because the canteen was still out of action.

The school was closed on Monday as a result of leakage from a roof, which caused water damage to the canteen and corridors providing access to classrooms.

The water penetration arose as a result of work being carried out at the school to replace the roof over the canteen.

The contractor, Bell Contracts, began work in July and it was due for completion in October. The value of the contract is £149,000.
