Stronachs LLP appoints chief operating officer to help full-service independent law firm meet ambitious growth plans

Stronachs LLP has appointed Stuart Murphy as its first chief operating officer (COO).
The news came as the full-service, independent law firm geared up to meet its ambitious plans for growth.
Mr Murphy will be responsible for leading operational and financial management at the firm and will oversee Stronachs’ HR and IT teams across its Aberdeen and Inverness offices.
He will also have a key role in the development and implementation of the firm’s strategy, improving systems and processes to provide a platform for growth.
An economics graduate of Aberdeen University, Mr Murphy worked as a chartered accountant with KPMG and in corporate finance with Johnston Carmichael and was most recently finance director of the Westwood Global Energy group.

Mr Murphy’s appointment comes as the firm confirms the recruitment of four trainee solicitors to its Aberdeen office and the employment of three trainees from its 2019 cohort who recently qualified as solicitors.
The firm is also currently actively recruiting for commercial property lawyers in its Aberdeen office, having recently expanded the private client team with the addition of two new associates.
Stronachs, which is headquartered in Aberdeen now has 16 partners, with around 90 lawyers and support staff between its offices in Aberdeen and Inverness.
With its roots firmly in the North-east and a long-established legal heritage, the firm provides legal services to private and commercial clients in all areas including commercial, residential and agricultural property, estate and tax planning, corporate, energy, employment, construction, dispute resolution and family law.
