FRIENDS cycling from John O'Groats to Land's End – and back again – for the RNLI Invergordon lifeboat crew have set out on the last leg of their epic effort.

Greg Drew and Norman Agnew took on the challenge for the volunteer lifesavers to repay a debt of gratitude to the local RNLI stalwarts who help out behind the scenes at the 24-hour Strathpuffer event in addition to their year-round efforts saving lives at sea.

After recrossing the border on Monday, the duo remain on track to complete the remarkable challenge in their target 12 days, having churned through the miles since setting out on Saturday, July 24.

They passed both Kessock RNLI and the Invergordon lifeboat stations yesterday on way to a penultimate day campsite at Dornoch, which they have left this morning en route back to John O'Groats.

The Two Wheel Ordeal team posted: "So, final day, day 12! Just a wee 79-mile sprint to John O’Groats."

It hailed them for keeping up an amazing pace after 1700 miles of cycling.

It added: "Please if you haven’t donated already pop a little something onto just giving to help the guys meet their target."

They have raised a total of £6712 to date.
