Store sheep mart prices following sale of 4260 animals at Dingwall

DINGWALL and Highland Marts Ltd yesterday sold 4260 store sheep in what was described as a week of "really buoyant" trade.
Lambs (2,816) averaged £67.74 and sold to £109 gross for a Texel cross lamb from Lochfleet, Dornoch.
Ewes (1,303) averaged £54.39 and sold to £125 gross for a pen of Cheviot ewes from South Cuil, Uig.
Feeding Sheep (141) sold to £450 gross for a Texel ram from Easter Glackton, Gollanfield.
The mart said: “Lamb trade was really buoyant again this week for a severely mixed show for quality. Long keep lambs look the dearest commodity in the market with plenty of buyers still keen to obtain numbers. Ewes met a firm enquiry and would
be dearer on the week for feeders whilst the small number of correct ewes forward cashed in at comparable rates.”
