ENGINEERING work will force the temporary closure of the Kyle and Far North rail lines on a number of weekend days later this month.

ScotRail has announced that buses will replace all rail services between Inverness and Kyle of Lochalsh, and between the Highland capital and Thurso/Wick, on August, 29 and 30.

Engineering work in the Dingwall area overnight on Friday, August 28 into Saturday, August 29 will also prompt bus replacements on the 11.33pm Inverness to Tain train and the 12.46am Tain to Muir of Ord service.

All services between Inverness and Thurso/Wick on Sunday, August 23 will also be cancelled and replaced by buses. The Kyle line will not be affected on that date.
