Kessock Bridge works hit week 12 - just another eight to go
PREPARATION for the resurfacing of the Kessock Bridge are getting underway as the upgrading works enter their twelfth week.
The refurbishment works, which started on February 10, are expected to take 20 weeks and represent an investment of £13.2m from Transport Scotland.
The programme continues to see contra-flow on the northbound carriageway as well as a reduced speed limit of 30mph while works are ongoing on the southbound carriageway.
Works planned for the week ahead include:
• Works will continue on the application of the new waterproofing system.
• Works will continue on the painting of the steel kerbs.
• Surfacing of southbound footpath will start.
• Preparation for main surfacing of the southbound carriageway will also get underway.
Calum Galloway, BEAR Scotland’s Bridges Manager for the North West Unit, said: "Waterproofing works are on-going and we are making good progress with this part of the programme. This week will also see surfacing works start on the southbound footpath and we will also be preparing for the main surfacing works to get underway soon.
"We appreciate the patience and cooperation of the travelling public as this major project continues."
