A JACOBITE warrior will be roaming a Dingwall High Street this weekend sharing colourful insights into life in days gone by during a special book launch.

Children's author Barbara Henderson will be in town for the launch of her new book, The Reluctant Rebel. Tying in with the Jacobite theme, two historical re-enactors from Highlanders for Hire will be in attendance at Dingwall's Picaresque Books.

Young visitors will be able to try beremeal bannocks – the staple diet of the Jacobites – as well as make their own white ribbon cockades, the sign of supporting the Jacobites.

In addition, there will be costumes to try and drama challenges like slow motion sword fighting. Visitors can get their books signed by the author and have their photograph taken with the warriors.

It takes place on Saturday, May 28 from 1-3pm.

Ms Henderson said: "All welcome, no need to book!"
