IT'S ON: Dates for Strathpuffer 2023 confirmed as epic 24-hour winter mountain bike challenge confirmed

MOUNTAIN bikers keen to tackle one of the toughest challenges going have been put on alert that one of Ross-shire's most eagerly anticipated events is ON.

The Strathpuffer is a 24-hour challenge on trails near Strathpeffer and Contin which attracts an eager entry from across the country and further afield.

Organisers posted: "Puffer 2023 is on!Dates are January 14th and 15th.

"Limited places are still available, entries open 10pm 4th July 2022."

The news will excite many disappointed by coronavirus crisis-related cancellations.

The plug was pulled on this year's event on Boxing Day of 2021.

It had been due to be held in January this year but then doubts about it going ahead surfaced amid growing concern over the coronavirus crisis.

Organisers taking a widely hailed precautionary approach then said: "Just because we can, doesn't mean we should."

News about the 2023 go-ahead has already triggered ripples of excitement.

A link for entries "will follow soon", say organisers.
