AN Easter Ross castle becoming increasingly familiar to people around the world was a stop-off for a Hollywood legend giving a local brand a high-profile boost.

Many around the world have become familiar with Ardross Castle near Alness as the host venue for UK and American versions of reality TV hit, The Traitors.

The spectacular venue is being given another boost courtesy of Harrison Ford who hooked up with Tain-based Glenmorangie for a series of long-form adverts which see the Star Wars legend galivanting around the Highlands in search of cosy fires and fine drams.

In an extended two-minute film titled The Accommodation, we see Ford drawing up open-mouthed outside Ardross Castle and wandering inside for an unexpected encounter some suits of armour and a welcoming glass of malt.

In the ad he rhapsodises says: “It’s just as I imagined it. Scotland. Beautiful castle. Glass of Glenmorangie. It’s perfect.”

The tongue-in-cheek ads filmed by actor and director Joel Edgerton have been a hit. Reactions posted online include: “I can’t stop giggling watching these commercials! HF is so self-deprecating, foolish and yet dignified. These commercials are really fun to watch. And I don’t even drink scotch (although other family members do)!”

Suggesting that they are hitting the spot with would-be visitors, another wrote: “The driving scenery and the castle are just gorgeous!” Film geeks meanwhile are looking out for sly references to hit Harrison Ford movies from Bladerunner to Raiders of the Lost Ark and Star Wars.
