Police Scotland officers carry out 'regular patrols' in the north-west Highlands following concerns over reckless camping and parking

POLICE in the north and west Highlands have stepped up patrols amid growing concerns over the irresponsible actions of visitors during the summer.

Taking to Twitter this morning, a Police Scotland spokesman said: "Local officers are carrying out regular patrols in the North West Highlands in response to concerns raised about irresponsible camping and parking."

Since the Covid-19 lockdown began easing there have been reports all over the Highlands of irresponsible camping, parking and littering – as people across the UK flock to the far north for holiday getaway.

In recent days there have been pleas by everyone from Torridon and Kinlochewe Community Council – who raised concerns over reckless parking on single-track roads – to national park chiefs in the Cairngorms.
