KISHORN Port in Wester Ross has secured another major energy sector contract.

Altera Infrastructure's FPSO (floating production storage and offloading) asset, Voyageur Spirit, will undergo maintenance at Kishorn, one of the largest dry dock facilities in Europe and the biggest in the UK, following the award of a yard stay contract to Semco Maritime.

This is the first oil and gas-related project at the Kishorn Port facility since 2019.

It follows significant investment carried out at Kishorn over the last five years to upgrade and recommission the facility, including the construction of new accommodation, catering and office facilities.

Kishorn Port Limited director Alasdair Ferguson said: “We are delighted that our dry dock and infrastructure at Kishorn Port has been chosen by Semco Maritime and Altera Infrastructure as the chosen port and dry dock of choice for the berthing lay-up and any associated works required for their FPSO.”

Brian Mercer, managing director of Semco, which has bases in Aberdeen, Invergordon and Grimsby, said he was delighted to have been awarded the contract.

"We very much look forward to working closely with Kishorn Port and Altera Infrastructure to ensure the highest levels of support are delivered for yard stay,” he said.

The 65-metre wide Voyageur Spirit is a cylindrical Sevan 300 type FPSO, built in 2008.

It arrived at Kishorn Port at the beginning of this month and will remain there for an undisclosed period of time.

“The Voyageur Spirit FPSO will be maintained in the Kishorn Port to be ready for redeployment in the North Sea, where we see a number of opportunities,” Stig-Morten Helland, Altera Infrastructure's vice-president and head of UK operations, said.
