A Black Isle man has appeared in court in connection with an alleged serious assault in the Highland capital.

Zen Etchells (27) appeared in private at Inverness Sheriff Court.

It comes after police said there was reports of a disturbance at Rose Street retail park around 7.40pm on Saturday, August 6.

Investigating officers said a 20-year-old man was taken by ambulance to Raigmore Hospital with serious injuries.

Etchells, of Fortorse, faced charges of assault to severe injury, two counts of assault, threatening and abusive behaviour and a breach of bail conditions.

He made no plea and was committed for further examination and released on bail.
