Inverness’s new Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) branch is preparing to open to customers, with an ‘official opening’ planned for next week.

The branch on the upper floor of the Eastgate Centre closed on February 20 of this year, as well as the Harbour Road branch set to close on March 14.

The closures have made way for the opening of RBS’ new £2.5 million flagship branch in Falcon Square. The official opening for this store is yet to be confirmed, but is hoped to take place later this month.

The decision to close the Eastgate and Harbour Road branches comes in response to shifting customer behaviours, with data revealing a 46 per cent decline in counter transactions between January 2020 and 2024.

The banking giant says it will benefit from new service points and technology, aimed at ‘improving customer experience’.
