A GROUP dedicated to keeping Invergordon’s historic Town Hall in public ownership will meet at the venue tonight (Thursday March 28) to talk over options to safeguard its future.

The Picture This Project has been set up to challenge Highland Council’s proposals to dispose of the Victorian building, which has also severed the Easter Ross town as its local cinemas and latterly an arts centre.

Earlier this year, the authority launched an eight-week consultation on the Common Good Fund owned building after revealing their were insufficient capital funds available for much needed restoration work.

Picture This Project chairwoman Marie Clarke said the group would also be holding a fundraising concert in the Town Hall on Thursday, April 11, with local singer-songwriters Davy Cowan and Martin Stephenson.

Highland Council says the hall requires "significant refurbishment" with efforts down the years to increase usage and source funding for improvements unsuccessful.

It says it will take al points of view into account before making a decision on the proposed disposal of the common good asset.

Tonight's meeting is due to start at 7pm.
