Invergordon lifeboat launch a memory replica decal is hailed by loved ones of those remembered
A NEW Ross-shire lifeboat that has a place in the hearts of thousands of people far flung across the country, has come up with a way for visitors to see the names of their loved ones while abiding by Covid-19 restrictions.
Invergordon’s Agnes AP Barr RNLI 13-37 features decals with the names of 9000 people, included by loved ones, as part of the Launch a Memory campaign.
Aware that many people are keen to catch a glimpse of the names on the vessel but unable to open the station the public, the branch said it was “thrilled” to announce it had installed an exact replica of the RNLI 13-37 decals on her port and starboard bows allowing the Launch a Memory names to be viewed up close.
The initiative has been warmly received with scores of people commenting.
Emma Sawford stated: “That’s lovely my late fiancé’s name is on the starboard side. Stay safe crew you do an amazing job keeping us all safe!”
Bernadette Ekberg said: “Such a wonderful thing to see, I hope one day to visit and see my brother’s name on the lifeboat. You guys are all amazing, true heroes, thank you all for what you do.”
Liz Chapman, who managed to see the vessel, said: “Brilliant idea.”
