The facility based in Cromarty Firth Industrial Park employs 48 full time personnel, and processes locally sourced sustainable wood fibre to produce 67,000 MWh of green electricity and 120,000 tonnes of wood pellets per year; making a significant impact within the renewable energy industry.

Mike studied BA in Business Studies in Glasgow before returning home to work with aquaculture feed firm Skretting as a process operator, progressing to process engineer until 2019 when he joined Balcas Energy as production manager.

Brought up in the farming community and now married with three children, Mike is looking forward to stepping up to the role of plant manager, in making further improvements to the site, increasing performance and taking the business from strength to strength.

He is keen to build upon existing linkages and forge new relationships within the local community.

Balcas is delighted to promote Mike to plant manager and wishes him well in his new role.
