Today (Friday) at 6pm sees a service of thanksgiving at Invergordon Church of Scotland, located on Castle Road. This service will be an opportunity for the community to come together to give thanks for the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of those who have served and continue to serve in the RNLI, particularly those connected to the local lifeboat station.
A spokesman said: “During the service, we will reflect on the rich history of the RNLI and honour the brave men and women who have risked their lives to save others at sea.
“It will also be a time to remember those who have been lost and to pray for the safety of all who continue this vital work.”
And then on Saturday September 7 there’s an RNLI Open Day at Invergordon Lifeboat Station which will include an array of local crafters in the craft village, a lifeboat demonstration, lifeboat tours, emergency services and the chance to snap up RNLI souvenirs.
Anne Noble School of Dance, a tombola, bottle raffle and RNLI BBQ are also planned along with teas and coffees, model lifeboats, Lego rescue and other kids’ activities.
Look out for some live music throughout “and of course Stormy Stan will be up to his usual mischief on both days!”
On Sunday there’s an RNLI community day with lifeboat tours all day, along with local community groups, including the knit and natter club and crochet club. There will also be more live music, a BBQ, teas and coffees and the craft village.
