Invergordon footy kids net kit boost
A JUNIOR football club in Easter Ross is celebrating a kit boost which will help develop youngsters' silky skills in front of goal.
Invergordon Junior Football Club has scored a new set of nets and goalposts thanks to funding from Albyn Housing Society’s community fund.
Albyn Housing Society funded the new equipment after the club approached the organisation for support in March. The goalposts and nets will be used by more than 30 local children aged between five and seven years old each week.
Launched in 2012, the fund provides small grants to help local projects and is available to the many Highland communities served by the organisation.
Calum Macaulay, chief executive of Albyn Housing Society, said: "At Albyn Housing Society our main goal is to support communities to thrive and become stronger.
"We set up the community fund so we could provide small grants to local clubs, projects and facilities which contribute towards achieving this aim.
"Invergordon Junior Football Club is well deserving of the funding it received. The club provides an excellent opportunity for girls and boys to play and exercise together, and build social skills as well as footballing talent. We wish them many hours of fun with the new equipment."
Ivan Legge, coach at Invergordon Junior Football Club, said: "On behalf of the club I’d like to thank Albyn Housing Society for helping us purchase the new equipment.
"The goals will bring so much fun to training sessions and will certainly help the children develop their skills.
"The Invergordon Junior Football Club provides a sense of belonging for many local youngsters. The children are our future and by investing in them we invest in the community for now and for the years to come."
