THE world's second strongest man has finally taken possession of his trophy, after the pandemic delayed it making its way over from America.
Gentle giant Tom Stoltman (26) a campaigner for people living with mental health issues and autism, who was named the second strongest man at the international World's Strongest Man held in Florida in November. said receiving the trophy has helped him focus on going onto the win the competition this year.
The Albatross, as he is known professionally, trains with brother Luke at their specially built fitness centre in Invergordon and is the first Scot to get onto the podium.
Mr Stoltman said: "It felt really good to get the trophy, and it took me back to the competition back in November.
"It has also made me really focus on what I want to achieve in 2021 –and that includes taking gold at the World's this year."
Mr Stoltman has recently been sponsored by the biggest protein product maker for athletes in the world, and says this has increased his workload.
He said: "Before the World's things were fairly focused on trainign and so were quite quiet.
"But since then my work including my sponsorship has really taken off. That means I have been filming much more, and making podcasts and videos for YouTube and our website."
Tom's brother Luke 'The Highland Oak' is also a hugely successful strongest man competitor.
"Luke and I have almost sold out of all our merchandise so we have been getting new products ready for people.
"We would like to thank everyone for all their support – particularly our families. We would not be able to do any of the things we do without their support."
The competition was won by Oleksii Novikov from Ukraine.
