A9 dangerous driving leads to immediate ban for man who tried to evade police
A 46-year-old Inverness man drove dangerously and at excessive speed in an effort to escape the clutches of the police.
At Inverness Sheriff Court, Sheriff Ian Cruickshank heard that Richard Blades, of Kildonan Crescent, was pursued by police from the B9161 near Litterburn, outside Munlochy on November 15, 2024 and failed to stop when required to do so.
Blades admitted driving with 41mcgs of cocaine in his system when the legal limit is 10mcgs and then driving dangerously in Stadium Road, Inverness and the A9, reversing his vehicle, striking a gate and road furnishings and then accelerating harshly and driving away at excessive speed.
Sentence was deferred until July 3 for a background report and a restriction of liberty order assessment. He was disqualified from driving in the interim.
