Tain homes will be without water for hours after burst main in the Easter Ross town, Scottish Water confirms
A burst water main which has left multiple streets in Tain without water, is expected to take hours to repair.
Scottish Water confirmed that the burst pipe, which is understood to be in the Morangie cottages area, will take until around 3.15pm to repair.
Residents in the Easter Ross town are reporting no water in multiple streets - with reports coming in from people in Provost Ferguson Drive, Moss Road, Stagcroft Park and Tarlogie, among others.
"We are currently repairing a burst water pipe which is causing the interruption to the water supply for customers in Tain," said a Scottish Water spokesperson, in an update on Thursday morning.
"The estimated completion time for the repair is 3.15pm. We expect to complete the repair in a timeframe which means we do not plan to provide bottled water.
"The water supply will gradually return to normal for customers once the repair has been completed."
The burst main comes amid frigid conditions across the north, with temperatures dropping to -10C in parts of Ross-shire overnight and snow lying on the ground for the best park of a week.
Fresh heavy snowfall in the early hours also added around and inch or so of fresh snowfall in Tain overnight - leaving even busy roads covered in snow.
And there was widespread disruption across the Highlands, with many schools and bus services cancelled on Thursday morning due to the treacherous conditions.
