A COUPLE who first met on a bus while following Ross County on an away day decided there was only one logical destination for their own love match...

And when Amy Garrow and Kenny MacLennan got hitched at the Global Energy Stadium in Dingwall last weekend, they made their own little bit of history by being the first couple to do so.

The stars seem to have aligned for the dynamic duo long before they met as both have relatives who turned out as wingers for the Staggies in days gone by – Amy's Dad James Garrow and Kenny's cousin, Jocky Clark.

The links don't stop there with both playing key roles at the club they love. Amy's a 50-50 ticket seller and Kenny is the supporter liaison officer – a super-fan quite literally prepared to bang the drum for the club in the stands.

Looking back on "a perfect day", Kenny, who is from Dingwall, said: "When we got engaged in October 2017, we basically went straight to the club to ask if we could get married there. Luckily for us there was no hesitation.

"The only dilemma we had was when to have it as we couldn’t really do it within the footballing season. For that reason, we had to wait a bit longer than we wanted but it was so worth the wait. The ceremony was beautiful and so emotional for both of us.

"It was conducted by Amy’s best friend Morag Webster, from Fuze Ceremonies, so that made it so much more personal. The day was just perfect and was exactly as we planned. It was amazing to see 18 months of planning finally come to life.

"Even the rain, thunder and lightning didn’t ruin the day - it only added to it. Our wonderful wedding photographer Michael Carver's face lit up when he heard the thunder!

"At one point he even turned to us and said: 'If I see lightning, you’re both outside to get the money shot!' The fact that the weather was so dramatic gave us a wonderful double rainbow which Michael managed to capture in some of the photos."

He said they were "truly honoured to be the first couple to be married at Ross County, our second home". He said it was a memory "that will live with us and our friends and families forever".

He paid tribute to everyone who helped deliver their dream wedding, amongst them general manager Lorraine Christie, her husband Liam and Lynn MacBean.

Lorraine Christie said: "We were delighted to host Amy and Kenny’s wedding. The facilities at the club allow us to hold a range of functions, including business dinners, conferences, dinner dances and we are fortunate to have the Red Poppy as our catering partner."
