Muir of Ord Golf Club tees up Pro-Am trailblazer for 150th anniversary year

A LONG-established and highly respected Ross-shire golf club is celebrating its 150th anniversary year in style.

Muir of Ord Golf Club president Hamish Milne and club captain Paul Brindle had the honour of raising the new 150th anniversary flag at the start of the milestone season.

As one of the oldest clubs in the country, it is looking forward to a bumper season with a number of events planned throughout the year.

On June 6, a Pro-Am event will be held for the first time at the club with a full house of 18 professional golfers from all over the country joined by three team members in competing for sizeable prize money.

They will be joined by a junior team and teams from the membership and from sponsors.

The club voiced delight at having Highland Council, Simpsons Garden Centre, G&A Barnie and Ross-shire Journal parent company, Highland News Media, as the main sponsors.

The club, which is fast approaching 700 members, said it is looking forward to what will be a unique event for it.
