Hillwalker missing in Highlands sparks Police Scotland for help with search focused on the Cape Wrath trail from Durness in Sutherland to Fort William
A keen hillwalker last seen nine days ago has been reported missing by her family.
Police in the Highlands are appealing for help in finding 33-year-old Rasa Kilikeviciute who was last in contact with relatives on Monday this week.
Rasa is believed to be hiking the Cape Wrath Trail from Durness on the north coast of Sutherland to Fort William.
The 200 miles trail, passing through Rhiconich, Kinlochewe, Ullapool, Dundonnell, Strathcarron, Inverie and Morar, is considered to be one of the most challenging long distance walks in the UK.
The missing woman was last seen by a member of the public on Monday, January 20, walking south on the road from Kinlochbervie to Rhiconich. It is believed she had reached the Kinlochewe area on Monday this week, when she last spoke to her family.
Rasa, who speaks with a Lithuanian accent, was last seen wearing a bright orange waterproof jacket and carrying a large rucksack.
She may have access to a tent but is also known to use bothies.
Inspector Ross McCartney said: “We are concerned for Rasa's welfare and are keen to trace her as soon as possible.
"Rasa regularly goes hillwalking but it is unusual for her to not be in touch with family and friends for this length of time.
“I would appeal to anyone who may have seen her or has any has information regarding her whereabouts to contact us. I would also appeal directly to Rasa herself, if you see this appeal, please let us know you are safe."
Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 1177 of Monday, January 27, 2025.
The Cape Wrath trail, described as “magnificently wild”, passes through some of Scotland’s most remote landscapes and is an unofficial, unmarked hiking route.
