Highland teen helps sick kids in hospital have a cracking Easter

A teenage beauty queen made a special delivery to patients and staff at Raigmore Hospital on Easter Sunday.
Hannah Webster made an appeal for donations of Easter eggs to brighten up the day for children in the Highland’s Children Unit who were separated from their family and friends.
But the caring teenager, who has qualified for the final of the Miss Teen Great Britain competition, was not fully prepared for just how overwhelmingly generous the response to her appeal would be.
“My boyfriend Lewis Gell and I had the car packed with over 300 eggs of all shapes and sizes,” she said.
“We were met at the entrance to the hospital by four nurses who were so grateful.
“We took them through to the children’s ward but there was so many I told them just to distribute them to other staff and patients in the hospital as well.
“The children would be missing their mums and dads and brothers and sisters on Easter Sunday so I thought this would cheer them up, but the response was unbelievable.”
It was another act of kindness from the 19-year-old who, last month, left a bunch of flowers on a park bench at the seaside.
They were accompanied by a note from Hannah to whoever found the bouquet saying the flowers were for them and that she hoped they had amazing day.
The flowers were found by Judy McIntosh, a Highland Hospice volunteer and stalwart member of Nairn Drama Club, who was delighted at the gesture.
Hannah is also raising funds for the charity Together for Short Lives which supports children with terminal illness and reduced life expectancy.
She is planning a series of events to help the charity in the summer, as Covid restrictions are lifted.
